What are Red Dead Redemption 2 Launch Arguments for?
Red Dead Redemption 2 Launch Arguments allow you to unlock features, fix issues and improve your Red Dead Redemption 2 experience on PC. I built this free tool based on the official guidelines to simplify composing Launch Argument commands on Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V.
Why should I use this tool?
The official guidelines are unclear, complex and incomplete. This tool aims to help players find the launch arguments they’re looking for – or even find new ones to improve gameplay.
PopcornGamer’s Unofficial Launch Argument Composer only makes it easier to find and understand possible launch argument codes that help players on PC solve their issues with the game.
This helps with graphics issues and improvements, performance optimization, CPU lag spikes, Benchmarking, CTD crashing, stuttering, FPS, launch issues, BSOD’s, Ultra-wide screen resolutions, Disconnects, etc.
This is not a cheat, hack, or mod.
It only makes it more convenient to find the codes you might be looking for, or even find new ones you were unaware of. It also prevents you from using codes inadequately. Some launch argument codes are mutually exclusive and this Launch Argument Composer prevents misusage.
If you find a way to somehow cheat using this tool, shame on you.

How to use the Launch Argument Composer for Red Dead Redemption 2
Simply click on the green separator buttons on the left and tick the boxes you wish to use, then copy the code that gets generated at the bottom textbox.
Open up your Rockstar Games Launcher. Now at the top right corner of the launcher click on “SETTINGS“. On the left select Red Dead Redemption 2, then scroll down until you find the Launch Arguments section and paste your custom Launch Arguments there.
Go back to “GAMES” and start Red Dead Redemption 2 with your custom launch arguments.
What if I have no idea what I’m doing and mess things up?
The Launch Argument Composer helps you by explaining clearly what each option does. It also prevents you from duping launch argument commands that may cause conflict. You’ll also find pre-made builds for barebones performance optimization, graphics improvements or benchmarking.
It is very unlikely that you’ll have any trouble using it.
If you have make a mistake, simply remove the launch argument codes you added and try again.
That said, I won’t be liable for any misusage or damages, but I’m available to help you out. Just leave a comment below if you run into any issues.
How to fix CPU performance, Disconnects or Ultra-wide screen resolutions?
Many people are experiencing disconnects (Error: 0x20010006). These are actually not connection issues, but rather CPU related communication delays to the servers. I recommend that you read my previous post on how to fix CPU issues in Red Dead Redemption 2.
If you’re having trouble with Nvidia surround triple-screen resolutions such as 5760×1080, 4K, or even 384×1080, please check my other post that tackles ultra-wide screen resolutions on Red Dead Redemption 2. You can then use this Launch Argument Composer to fix your issues.
To help fix the UI not adapting to the new ultra-wide resolution, you may also try adding this argument -noDPIAdjust – Thank you Jon and NorbzFR for the suggestion!
If you can’t launch Red Dead Redemption 2 because of the error ERR_GFX_STATE, I suggest using -ignorepipelinecache in your launch arguments as well. It seems to be related to Nvidia graphics cards. More info on this soon.

I have a ultra wide screen 5120x1440 and the UI stacks the menus in the centre so for example the wardrobe menu ends up in front of the character making it impossible to see any modifications you do to the character.
Your tool sounded like it might help me but I can't even find a download link on your page.
Hi Kim welcome to PopcornGamer,
Regarding my tool, you don't need to download anything at all. Try making your choices in the menus and then copy/paste the text that gets generated in the bottom textbox into your game's launch arguments line in Rockstar's Social Club launcher's settings for RDR2.
Your issue seems to have the same cause as Jon's (please read other previous comments at this post ). Try adding -noDPIAdjust to your launch arguments and see if that helps. I'm not doubting your word, but 5120x1440 doesn't seem like a very common resolution and I'm not sure whether the game supports such a tall one. The most common one is 5760x1080. Are you sure your display settings are correctly set?
As a last resort, you may also change to windowed mode and resize the window and restart to let it center properly. You won't be playing fullscreen, but at least you'll be able to fix the UI in order to play comfortably.
Let me know if my suggestion works!
Cheers,
ViLa4480
The Ultrawide monitors are still rather rare so not all games support the resolutions yet.
When I follow your instructions I fail to find any launch argument command thing at all. All I see is general/account info/updates/legal on the left hand side under Settings.
Could be I have missed something. Am I in the wrong place?
I have previously heard of some people not finding this option at all. Do you have the steam version? If so, you might need to use Steam's own argument line. Alternatively, try creating a shortcut to the game's executable and add the arguments in this shortcut's properties, in front of the "Destination" field. Should be something like [...]executable.exe" -noDPIAdjust
Ok, so you mentioned "general/account info/updates/legal" - do you have a section below that which reads "My installed games"? If so, you should click on RDR2 and then scroll down until you find the launch arguments section (3rd from the bottom).
Let me know if it helped!
Hello - I just downloaded RDR 2 yesterday from Epic games. I am unable to utilize the three monitor setup that I am currently using. I have other games that are working just fine using Single Surround mode on my Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 3gb video card. I play GTAV and it works perfectly. I have been messing around with this every since I installed the game and no luck. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
I am unable to access Red Dead Redemption 2 Launch Argument Composer. Can you please fix the site?
Sorry, Ivan, I'm currently working on it, but it might take a while to fix! Thanks for the heads up!
-BenchmarkPass accepts a number between 1-5. The benchmark has 5 scenes. 1. Snow scene, 2. Night scene, 3. Sundown scene, 4. Town scene, 5. Chase scene (longest part).
"-BenchmarkPass 5" would play the last part of the benchmark for example.
Awesome! Thank you for your input, I will add this info to the list once I finish fixing some issues with the site. Thanks!
is there a way i can play rdr2 offline witout using internet?
Hi Noli, I'm afraid you can't launch RDR2 multiplayer in offline mode, but you might be able to play story mode offline if you disconnect after launching the game. I don't think there are any ways around the first connection from the launcher so far. There was an option for Offline mode, but it seems to have been disabled server-side. Thanks for your comment.
One argument is missing: " -sgadriver=Vulkan " for the Vulkan-API (e.g. for Win 7).
I actually had no way to test this one as I don't own a Vulkan-able graphics card. Thanks, Michael! Will add it to the next iteration of the Launch Argument tool!
how should i download this ?
Hi! There's no download - You should be able to see it and interact with it embedded in the page above. There's a bunch of green buttons to the left of it.
If you're not able to see it, then please try using a different browser. It uses WebGL so please try to use a compatible browser.
This site is so wierd.... Just put a download button in the middle or something. I have tried other apps to search the download button but with no good results.
Hi Bodo69boss, thank you for your comment. Actually, there is no download button because the app is embedded on the page! I guess I could build an executable since you're not the first one to ask for a download. But the app should be visible on this post. Try using a different browser maybe? The tool on the post is the composer itself (not a screenshot), just below the "This is not a cheat, hack, or mod" subtitle.
I feel like this may now be a bit outdated. After selecting "Settings" There is no panel on the left of my launcher displaying the different game options and only options to edit the launcher itself. Im only able to see the listed games in any way when under the "Games" tab
Hey Tick, thank you for your input! I just checked and it still looks the same... Have you bought the game on Rockstar, Epic or Steam? I think the Steam version is slightly different... If using Steam, try using the launch parameters box in the game's properties on your Steam library.
